Management and Directors

CEO and Director

Mr. Turner has over 15 years’ experience in the mining industry, which includes significant experience in Mexico where he oversaw permitting processes and technical work. Mr. Tuner previously held a senior management position at Argonaut Gold Inc., where he was a key member of the team that successfully completed four acquisitions totaling over $700 million. Prior to his position at Argonaut Gold Inc., Mr. Turner was employed by Yamana Gold Inc. and Meridian Gold Inc. in increasing levels of responsibility in the accounting and finance areas.

President and Director

Mr. Perez has been a Vice President at Carrelton Asset Management Inc., a natural resource focused asset manager since 2005. He’s played a lead role in the acquisition and financing of precious metal mining companies in Mexico and Central America. Mr. Perez is the CFO for Minera Apolo S.A. de C.V where he oversees a portfolio of 6 exploration/development projects in Mexico. He also is a Director in Credipresto S.A. de C.V., a company which provides financing to the junior resource sector throughout Mexico in coordination with FIFOMI (Fideocomiso de Fomento Minero).  Prior to this, he was a Senior Analyst at Salomon Smith Barney Asset Management. Mr. Perez has an MBA from the University of Miami.

COO Mining Engineer  M.Eng., MBA

Mr. Alexandri is a mining engineer with 30 years experience in mining and metallurgical design with multiple companies including COO Dia Bras and Impact Silver. Mr. Alexandri received his Mining Engineer- Cum Laude- from Universidad de Guanajuanto, Mexico in 1978 and a General Business Administration from Universidad de Monterrey in 1984. 

Chief Financial Officer

Mr. Sam Wong is currently the Chief Financial Officer of Dynasty Metals & Mining Inc. and Chesapeake Gold Corp. He was also previously the Chief Financial Officer of Goldgroup Mining Inc., where he significantly decreased the cost and level of debt through various cost cutting and restructuring initiatives. Prior to that position, Mr. Wong was the Corporate Controller at Luna Gold Corp. where he oversaw the finance division during Luna’s transition from development through to commercial production. Mr. Wong is a Chartered Accountant and articled at Deloitte & Touche LLP in Vancouver, BC where he specialized in assurance and advisory for mining companies.

VP of Exploration

Mr. Gonzalez is a Senior Geologist with more than 15 years of experience. Prior to joining Candelaria, Mr. Gonzalez spent 4 years with Dia Bras Exploration Inc. as the senior mine geologist, 1 year with MAG Silver Corp as project geologist and 1 year as chief geologist at Minerum Gold.  Mr. Gonzalez received his B.S. in Geology from the Universidad Autonoma de Chihuahua and earned a Professional M.S. in Economic Geology from the University of Arizona at Tucson.

VP Corporate Development

Mr. Bertsch has over 23 years of experience in the mining industry. He began his career working as a field technician for a variety of exploration companies operating in Canada, the United States and Mexico. He brings 14 years’ experience in shareholder management and investor relations. Previously, he served as Vice President, Corporate Development for Great Panther Silver Limited and most recently, Columbus Gold Corporation.

Chairman and Director

Mr. Puar has more than 25 years of experience in corporate finance, corporate development and the public markets.  From 1987 to 1998, Mr. Puar was with Canaccord Capital Corporation (Canada) and Noram Investments (USA) as an Investment Advisor.  Mr. Puar is a graduate in Mechanical Technology, Design and holds an Advanced Diploma in Business Administration from the British Columbia Institute of Technology.   He left the capital markets in the fall of 1998 to join a publicly traded Internet based technology company as Vice President of Corporate Development.

After assisting in establishing the company’s infrastructure, business model, financing, get listed on a North American Stock exchange and help launch its’ technology, Mr. Puar  joined Capital Alliance Group Inc. in May 2000.  As Senior Vice President of Corporate Development, he oversaw the development team, corporate finance activities and was in charge of mergers and acquisitions. After assisting the subsidiary of Capital Alliance Group to go public Mr. Puar left the Company to form SNJ Capital Ltd.  Since July of 2001, SNJ Capital Ltd. has been providing valuable experience in business development, corporate finance, structuring companies from start-up and the process involved in the application for listing on Canadian, US and European stock exchanges. Mr. Puar has held various senior management positions in companies involved in Oil and Gas, Technology and Mining.  Mr. Puar currently sits on the board of several public and private companies including the board of Governors of Southpointe Academy, an independent school located in Tsawwassen, B.C.

Director

Mr. Reyes studied economics and business administration at the Instituto Tecnologico Autonomo de Mexico (ITAM), from which he received a Bachelor’s degree in econo- mics and another in business administration. Mr. Reyes also earned a Master’s degree in finance at ITAM. In 2004, he studied an advanced course in Financial Derivatives. Mr. Reyes is the founder and President of CrediPresto and Antares Capital Management. The latter is a company that manages three hedge funds: Antares Capital Fund, Antares Oil & Gas and Cygnus Real Estate Opportunity Fund. He began his professional and financial services career in 1996 at a well-known brokerage firm in Mexico City, Estrategia Bursatil. In 2001, he founded a financial consulting company, where he became CEO.

Director

Mr. Gomez worked at Bank of America from 1980 to 1985, JPMorgan Chase from 1986 to 1988, UBS from 1991 to 1997 where he Managed the half billion USD Spanish Equities Fund and Credit Suisse from 1999 to 2006. From 1991 to 1999 Mr. Gomez also taught Finance at the MBA level at the European University and City University in Zurich, Basil, Frankfurt, Monoco and Zug. Mr. Gomez is a graduate from the Instituto Technologico de Monterrey in Accounting, an MBA from City University, Zurich and is a CFA.

Director 

Mr. Montaño is a Certified Public Accountant with a post graduate in accounting at Universidad Panamericana de Guadalajara, Jalisco. He is currently the Chief Executive Officer of C-UNO, S.A. de C.V. which is part of the group which owns a series of retail chain stores in Mexico and South America.

Mr. Montaño holds various other positions which includes:

  • Secretary and Board Member of Codesin, which is the private sector chamber for economic development for the State of Sinaloa;
  • President of Administración de Crediavance, S.A. de C.V. Sofom ENR, which is a microfinance company with a presence in Sinaloa, Sonora, Baja California Norte, Baja California Sur, Nayarit and Jalisco;
  • Member of the Board of Promotora de Casas y Edificios SA de CV, which is a real estate developer in Mexicali and Tijuana in the State of Baja California;
  • Member of the Board of Endeavor for the State of Sinaloa, a non-profit organization headquartered in New York that credits itself as pioneering the concept of high-impact entrepreneurship in emerging and growth markets around the world.
